Local Plan and Planning Policies

Sevenoaks District Council released their Core Strategy – Local Development Framework in February 2011, which remains applicable. This is a substantial document with 142 pages, so best downloaded and reviewed as a digital file.

This document, as all others features below, are available on the SDC website that supplement the Local Plan, all of which can be inspected and downloaded from:

A more recent publication is the Local Plan – Strategic Housing & Economic Land Availability Assessment, as released in July 2017. (The title is so long that this particular component of planning policy is known as SHELAA.

Most people call it Sheila..) As most of the land in Sevenoaks District is Green Belt, this is an important statement of green belt policy.

This should be read in conjunction with another important policy statement, known as a Supplementary Planning Document (not quite an acronym -  it’s an SPD) entitled Development in the Green Belt, dated February 2015.

Bearing in mind that Sevenoaks District is predominantly Green Belt, this is an important document for our readership.

One other report  which we found relevant is the Housing Strategy 2017 – Wellbeing Starts at Home. (This doesn’t have acronym at all, which makes it rather odd.)
